The Empire State Youth Orchestra organization has been a critically important element of my musical education. I started to play oboe when I was about 13 years old, and have been a part of the organization for 3 years. ESYO has been instrumental in offering me the services necessary to grow my potential as a musician. As a member of the organization, I have learned to develop intonation, technique, and the skills required to be a part of an ensemble. I hope to major in musical performance in college, and being a part of this program has helped prepare me for the audition process. I would highly recommend this organization to any aspiring young musicians. Whether the individual would want to continue their education into college, or just for fun, the experience and friendships you make in ESYO will last a lifetime. 

A donation to this wonderful organization would be greatly appreciated, not just by me, but also all the wonderful musicians in our organization. Playathon is our annual fundraiser held at Crossgates Mall, and includes all of ESYO's programs and talent. Nearly 50% of ESYO's annual operations budget comes from donations, such as Playathon. By donating, you help keep tuition low for all students and allow for the creation of scholarships. ESYO currently has more than 500 musicians in 12 performing ensembles, with a free after school music education program. Playathon is Empire State Youth Orchestra’s most important fundraiser and friend-raiser of the year! This fun-filled day of free musical performances raises money for ESYO while showcasing the breadth and depth of our programs. It is the one day of the year when all ESYO ensembles (including CHIME) perform in one location!

Your support is needed now more than ever. The marathon display of musical talent helps ESYO ensure no qualified musician is ever turned away from the ESYO experience because of an inability to pay. The money raised will support a substantial portion of ESYO’s operating expenses and musician scholarships.
