The Empire State Youth Orchestra ("ESYO") engages more than 600 students from across the Capital Region in the joyful pursuit of musical excellence. Guided by outstanding teaching artists, coaches and conductors, orchestra members explore their potential alongside like-minded peers in a dynamic environment. ESYO's CHIME program provides free, daily music instruction to some of the region’s most disadvantaged students—students who might not otherwise have the opportunity or income to seriously pursue music. 

I am a former member of the Repertory Orchestra, one of the ensembles that make up ESYO. I had an amazing experience in ESYO as a student, and am thrilled to again be a part of the organization as a member of the Board of Directors. This is a great organization that has a big impact on our region's youth.

Playathon is Empire State Youth Orchestra’s most important fundraiser and friend-raiser of the year! This fun-filled day of free musical performances raises money for ESYO while showcasing the breadth and depth of our programs. It is the one day of the year when all ESYO ensembles (including CHIME) perform in one location!

Your support is needed now more than ever. The marathon display of musical talent helps ESYO ensure no qualified musician is ever turned away from the ESYO experience because of an inability to pay. The money raised will support a substantial portion of ESYO’s operating expenses and musician scholarships.
