Hi, my name is Kevin Zhang, and I’m excited to be a new member of the String Orchestra in ESYO! I joined ESYO because I love a good challenge—especially when it comes to improving my viola skills. Challenges push me to grow, and I always learn something valuable from them.

Right now, my biggest challenge is raising $200 or more for the ESYO Playathon. This is my first time fundraising, and I’m excited to take it on! ESYO is an incredible opportunity for me—getting accepted is a big achievement, and I feel honored to be part of such a talented group of musicians. Not everyone gets this chance, so I want to do my part to support this amazing program.

Playathon is Empire State Youth Orchestra’s most important fundraiser and friend-raiser of the year! This fun-filled day of free musical performances raises money for ESYO while showcasing the breadth and depth of our programs. It is the one day of the year when all ESYO ensembles (including CHIME) perform in one location!

Your support is needed now more than ever. The marathon display of musical talent helps ESYO ensure no qualified musician is ever turned away from the ESYO experience because of an inability to pay. The money raised will support a substantial portion of ESYO’s operating expenses and musician scholarships.
