When I started playing percussion in my school's band in 5th grade, my instructor sensed my passion and eagerness, she said I was "hungry".  She suggested that I audition for the ESYO Chamber Percussion Ensemble as I entered middle school to help feed that musical hunger.  I am now more than half way through my first season and I am truly loving the experience.  The conductor of my Ensemble has been so inspiring, and I have had the chance to play so many different percussion instruments in rehearsal and in concert.  I was even given the chance to conduct part of a song in our last concert.  Through ESYO, I have been able to be a part of something very unique and special.  

Playathon is Empire State Youth Orchestra’s most important fundraiser and friend-raiser of the year! This fun-filled day of free musical performances raises money for ESYO while showcasing the breadth and depth of our programs. It is the one day of the year when all ESYO ensembles (including CHIME) perform in one location!

Your support is needed now more than ever. The marathon display of musical talent helps ESYO ensure no qualified musician is ever turned away from the ESYO experience because of an inability to pay. The money raised will support a substantial portion of ESYO’s operating expenses and musician scholarships.
